About Me
In 2012, I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I was employed in a cardiac unit and was accepted into the Basic Critical Care Program at the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. Throughout my training, I was fortunate to have an excellent preceptor who helped me to discover my passion for cardiac nursing. Her dedication and leadership have significantly impacted me.

In 2013, I relocated to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. I was keen to continue my nursing practice in cardiology and found employment in a medical cardiology unit at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. There, I provided direct patient care and engaged in the training of new nursing graduates. While working, I was able to develop the skills of critical thinking, teamwork, and time management.

Throughout my experience as a bedside nurse, I have had opportunities to engage in leadership roles: I have filled the role of clinical nurse leader and have often been the in-charge nurse. I valued my time in these roles as they have taught me the importance of effective communication, upstream thinking, and emotional intelligence.

Today, I practice nursing in a cardiac electrophysiology lab. This experience has deepened my understanding of teamwork and what creates an effective, cohesive team there. It has also enhanced my interpersonal skills and my ability to resolve conflict.

My experience has led to me where I am today. I am pursuing a healthcare career in leadership and am progressing through a Master of Health Studies program focusing on leadership from Athabasca University. This space will serve as a platform to further develop and share the skills and knowledge I have learned throughout the journey.
